Program Evolution and Renewed Focus

The VFW National Home has demonstrated a consistent ability to adapt and grow, ensuring that it continues to address the shifting needs of America’s military members, veterans, and their families. Throughout its history, the program has remained steadfast in its commitment to honoring those who serve and have served our nation. By providing essential help, hope, and support, the National Home upholds its mission and values.

This year marks a significant development for the VFW National Home, as it has re-entered into its own program with a renewed emphasis on its foundational purpose. This revitalized direction centers around the principle of Serving America’s Heroes, reaffirming the organization’s dedication to those who have sacrificed for our country.

Located in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, the VFW National Home was founded in 1925 to ensure families affected by war could remain together. Since then, the program has evolved to meet the changing needs of military and veteran families while remaining firmly committed to honoring those who serve and have served. Today, the National Home offers safe housing and access to education, transition support, and community-based programs designed to help families overcome challenges, strengthen stability, and build a successful future.

This year, the goal for VFW National Home is to help fill all 43 homes at the VFW National Home by increasing awareness and outreach. This can be achieved through education about the program and by connecting with veterans and local veteran service organizations to identify families who may be struggling and could benefit from the support offered. 1. Most Creative Promotion of the National Home Award

• Presented to the District Chairman who demonstrates the most creative and effective promotion of the National Home and its programs during the program year. This award recognizes originality, initiative, and impact in increasing awareness and support of the National Home through district-level outreach, communication, and engagement efforts. 

•  Present to the Auxiliary Chairman who submits one or more qualified referrals to the National Home during the program year. This award recognizes dedication to the mission of the National Home and commitment to connecting eligible individuals and families with its service and support program.
