Barbara Sweger
Youth Activities Chairman -

Welcome to the Youth Activities page, my name is Barbara Sweger but I go by Barb. I first joined the auxiliary in 2008 at the urging of my mother, Marge Murphy a former District 9 President under my father Elton Murphy’s eligibility as a Vietnam War Navy Veteran. At the time of my joining, our local auxiliary 4668 needed new members and mom knew that I would be a good fit. Her famous words in getting me to join were "You won’t have to do anything but come to the meetings”! Of course those of you knew my mom, know this was a lie. My first ever meeting was at District 9 meeting at our post, where I was appointed to the Secretary position with mom as the District President that year. How do you say No to your mother? So, I have held that position since then and I added District Treasurer to my title in 2012. Starting with the 2022-2023 year, I accepted the Youth Activities Chairman position which I currently hold again for the 3rd year. I am very glad to be able to help educate our auxiliaries on how to teach our youth the skills needed to become responsible adults by helping serve our country, our communities, the veterans and service members. By helping the auxiliaries have positive volunteer experiences, that they can help the youth of our state find a place to help improve their lives and the lives of those they help.  I have learned new things each year I have held this position and I look forward to helping again this year. Please let me know if you have any ideas, thoughts or even criticisms for the upcoming year! Let’s have a great year!
